\A pioneer mother holds her child on her hip as she motions to someone in the distance. She has a gentle but strong face with an expression of discovery. She is the "Spirit of the Prairie". The wind holds her clothing tight against her as her skirt flows behind her. A skinned knee pokes through a hole in the young boys tattered overalls. The round faced boy shows contentment as he is concerned only with the ball in which he holds in his hand.
